Among all the tips and tricks that have been hailed for their improved driving on today’s grand touring cars, the right set of tires gets forgotten most.

While it is obvious that nobody wants to spend too much extra cash just to get a little more grip, it is undeniable that we are all willing to dig a bit deeper into our pockets for an assurance of safety.

For this reason that I have compiled this insightful look into the BFGoodrich Advantage T/A, to determine its worth.

What is the BFGoodrich Advantage T/A?

The BFGoodrich Advantage T/A is an all season grand touring tire designed for drivers who want performance-style handling on daily usage cars.

Whether you are looking for precise handling in snow or you just need to change your regular get-to-work car tires, this is an excellent solution.

BFGoodrich ADVANTAGE TA Tread

The Advantage T/As are in some way sporty, and although they do not exactly have race track tire properties, they have a commendable tread life.

This premium all-season tire is backed most notably by its improved hydroplaning resistance and snow traction.

Features

  • Deep, wide circumferential grooves designed to provide maximum water evacuation.
  • A silica-enhanced tread compound that provides the excellent all weather bite and responsiveness that is demanded by enthusiasts.
  • BFGoodrich’s g-Grip interlocking sipes
  • Twin steel belts on the tire’s interior reinforced by BFGoodrich’s Equal Tension Containment System (ETEC) of spirally wrapped reinforcement under the tread to provide strength and blend high speed durability with even ride quality
  • A dimensionally stable polyester casing that enhances ride quality

Dry Performance

The inside of this tire is fitted with BFGoodrich’s Equal Containment System.

This system provides added strength and durability when the tire is continually driven on dry pavement.

Not only does this tire provide improved contact with the road, it also handles exceptionally well when driving at higher speeds.

The tread life of this tire is generally around 70,000 miles if you are constantly on dry pavement.

Wet Performance

When the road surface becomes wet, the Advantage T/A is a tire you can depend on. It will get out of the water safely.

It features g-Grip interlocking sipes which add more bite to the road giving you more confidence with the car.

You will also find that braking on wet roads is not a problem either.

Winter Performance

The Advantage T/A is one of the tires you can comfortably take out when there is light snowfall.

The wide circumferential grooves are impressive when it comes to water evacuation from under the tread.

This gives the tire grip in the slush and prevents skidding.

The Bottom Line

It’s among the better touring all-season tires. Period.

It provides superior traction in all weather conditions and handles well in light snow.

In addition to that, this tire also provides a smooth ride, except for a few complaints about noise as the tire ages.

Overall the Advantage is a god-sent in its class considering the value for money and the performance you get. Penny pinchers will marvel at this product.
