- Exceptional dry and wet traction
- Excels at braking
- Quiet and comfortable ride
- Average tread life
- Not a good tire on ice and snow
Winter is almost here with us and that could only mean one thing for drivers…
Slippery and wet roads.
If you are not already in the process, it is high time to start shopping for proper tires.
But has it ever occurred to you that you could get a set of tires that will last the winter and avoid the need for a change in another season?
he Continental Crosscontact LX20 with Ecoplus all-season tire maximizes your driving experience in a multitude of ways.
What is the Continental Crosscontact LX20 with EcoPlus Technology?
The Crosscontact LX20 is the premium crossover, light truck and SUV all-season tire built using EcoPlus technology.
This tire provides excellent braking, has a long tread life and provides great fuel efficiency. Continental developed this tire to provide an easy ride while saving fuel and maximizing the driving experience.
Its tread compound is developed using Tg-F polymers and +Silane additives that enhance traction giving it better treadlife.
- Tg-F Polymers and +Silane additives to improve treadwear, fuel efficiency and traction
- A symmetric tread design with notched outboard shoulders
- Four circumferential grooves enhance wet traction
- Twin steel belts on the interior reinforced with spirally wrapped polyamide on top of a polyester cord casing to combine strength with ride comfort
- Continuous center ribs to blend on-road steering response and straight-line stability with reduced noise and enhanced ride comfort.
Acceleration is not the only thing a tire needs to be good at. Braking is also really important and the LX20 delivers top shelf braking on dry pavement. It provides crisp handling and great stability whenever there is a sharp and quick maneuver to be made. You get a good grip on the road right from the start and it gets even better as the tires warm up.
In wet conditions, the LX20s are an excellent choice. They provide great steering control, although not as precise as that of the Scorpion Verde from Pirelli. You can expect a reasonably quiet ride and cornering in rainy weather won’t be a problem either.
As great a tire as it might be, the LX20 takes a step backward in terms of delivery whenever there is snow or worse still, ice. While all-season tires are not the best in extreme conditions of any kind, this kid from Continental seems to have trouble handling winter conditions. As a matter of fact, the Crosscontact LX20 ranks a notch lower than a number of all-season tires in terms of winter capability. There is the very unpleasant slip when braking and anything above 30 mph does not feel safe.
The Bottom Line
Overall, this is a really likeable product that I would recommend as one of the top performers of its class. Not only are they dependable, they also come with a 70,000 mile warranty. If you would like to have an all season touring tire that provides a quiet and smooth ride, then you will definitely love the LX20.
