The Signature HP is Dunlop’s ultra-high performance all season tire designed to give the drivers of sport cars, coupes and high-performance sedans greater traction and control throughout the year.

It aims to balance all season traction and a long lasting tread life with a stylish appearance and more responsive handling.

But as Dunlop’s all season flagship tire, how does the Signature HP match up to the other leading tires in its class?

The Signature HP features an asymmetric tread design that’s molded from a special high-performance all season compound, which provides great traction, handling and braking on dry and wet surfaces.

Dunlop SIGNATURE HP Tread

The steering on the Signature HP is crisp and responsive while the tire’s overall cornering capability is stable and precise at all speeds. This is due to the Signature HP’s hard rubber sidewall reinforcements and outboard shoulder blocks that are backed by intermediate and center ribs. Although the Signature HP is perfect for everyday driving, if you’re a spirited driver who relishes the thrill of whipping into corners at speed, you may be a little disappointed in the tire’s overall cornering performance and ability to communicate when approaching the limit. It just doesn’t offer the same high-levels of grip as other tires in the ultra-high performance all season tire category, such as the Continental DWS06 or the BFGoodrich Comp 2 A/S.

Inside the Signature HP’s tread are two high-density steel belts which are reinforced with Jointless Bead Technology for extra strength and durability, while rim guards have been added to protect the wheels from accidental curb damage. The Signature HP will keep those custom rims that you adore so much shiny and new.

How does the Signature HP handle the rain?

Wet braking is simply fantastic with the Signature HP. To combat hydroplaning and enhance traction on wet surfaces, the tire’s inboard intermediate rib and shoulder feature independent tread blocks for more biting grip, and four circumferential grooves that help evacuate water away from the tire. So when driving in the rain and through standing water, the Dunlop Signature HP’s steering remains quick and responsive while confidently gripping the pavement. You’ll never feel that you’ll lose control.

Now winter traction is never a strong point of an all season tire, but how does the Signature cope in the snow and on ice?

Well Dunlop have added an innovative blade pattern to the Signature HP that increases the number of biting edges and sipes for better traction, turning and braking in winter driving conditions. They don’t lose much grip when the temperature gets colder and tackle light snow with extreme confidence. On ice they can slip a little, but in a way that’s predictable and allows you to quickly regain control.

Great all round tire at a very good price

Many tires are quiet and comfortable when they’re new, but as they wear they start to act up and get nosier. Fortunately, thanks to Dunlop’s use of contoured edges around the shoulders, road noise on the Signature HP has been greatly reduced to deliver a ride that is both comfortable quiet, even as they wear and approach the end of their tread life.

Dunlop offer a 45,000 mile tread life warranty on the Signature HP and sizes are available ranging from 16 to 19 inches, and speed ratings in either V or W. And while it doesn;t offer a level of performance on par with the top tires in its class, the Dunlop Signature HP certainly delivers good value and is a viable choice for an all season tire. For the price you won’t be disappointed.
