Firestone Precision Touring Review

It is undeniable that many drivers, particularly those of coupes, sedans and minivans, look at aspects such as comfort and tire performance competence when deciding on a model. It is this demand that necessitates our Firestone Precision Touring review. This all weather tire is affordably priced but promises unrivaled performance to its drivers. Firestone has put together a product that they believe will deliver well in dry, wet and snowy conditions, while not compromising on ride quality and comfort.

Considerations For Each Season

When driving in dry conditions, safety and control are at the heart of most everyday drivers. The molded silica compound used for the precision touring tire ensures great feedback and response on dry surfaces. The tread design integrates broad shoulders with intertwining ribs for ultra handling and cornering.

Wet weather has also been taken into account. The tire features four grooves running along the tire’s circumference. These are instrumental in evacuating water from the tire to make sure that hydroplaning is kept to a minimum.

The undoing of most all season tires is usually witnessed in winter driving conditions. To combat this, the Firestone tires come with notches dotted on the tire along with numerous sipes to give biting edges that improve grip in snow.

Momentary Performance

It is unfortunate that despite all the considerations, the Firestone Precision Touring tires seem to slip badly in wet weather. This particularly sets in as the tire wears out. While grip is great when new, it doesn’t last for the duration of the tire’s life. This is especially noticeable in wet weather driving conditions.

The other issue has to do with treadwear. It would seem that as the miles roll on, the treads do wear out badly. The 25,000 mile mark is generally the tipping point for this tire. This comes well short of what the manufacturer guarantees.

On the whole there are some issues that plague the tires. Our Firestone Precision Touring review clearly highlights these shortfalls. It must be mentioned though that there is a lot that the tire has to offer. If anything it makes for a great all-weather option for the following reasons.

Firestone Precision Touring Core Competencies

  • Affordably priced when compared to other tires in the segment
  • Broad footprint that assists in uniform wear and tire durability
  • Silica compound makes for better traction
  • Circumferential grooves that evacuate water reducing hydroplaning
  • Improved ride quality owing to double, tensile steel braces laid over a polyester casing
  • Biting edges make for enhanced traction in snow

There are number of all-weather tires that are on offer in the current market. Some offer unrivaled performance while others present a comfortable and quiet ride. Few, however, successfully mate these two aspects in a way that is acceptable to most drivers. The Firestone Precision Touring tires seem to have bridged this somewhat difficult divide.
