When you’re driving in the winter on snow and ice covered roads, you want a tire that inspires confidence and provides you with a high level of security. A tire that guarantees your safety in even the worst weather conditions.

There’s a lot of great winter tires on the market, but how do you go about picking the best one to suit your need?

Let’s take a look at the Winter Snowcontrol Serie 3, Pirelli’s Performance Winter/Snow tire. It offers precise handling with good feedback, short braking, stable cornering on the snow, and low road noise. These tires are excellent in dry and wet conditions even when it’s very cold.

Excellent traction and safety on snow and ice

To show the Pirelli Snowcontrol Serie 3 meets the industry’s severe snow service requirements, the tire has been branded with the mountain/snowflake symbol.

Pirelli WINTER SNOWCONTROL SERIE 3 Tread

You’ll be amazed at how well these tires grip the road in the snow. They’re superb in deep snow, slush and even ice and will never leave you without control.

To encourage rubber flexibility in cold temperatures, the Pirelli Winter Snowcontrol Serie 3 utilizes a silica-enhanced winter tread compound that’s molded into a directional tread design. And rounded shoulder blocks and interlocking center blocks featuring Pirelli’s Interactive Brickwork Siping creates a brick wall pattern that improves the tire’s overall stability and increases the number of biting edges for better traction in the snow. This high silica-content tread compound ensures performance even at the lowest temperatures.

In order to prevent the risk of hydroplaning, the Winter Snowcontrol Serie 3’s tread pattern has a high drainage level. To maintain constant traction on wet road surfaces, the tire uses two wide circumferential grooves and numerous lateral grooves to dispel water and slush away from the tire’s footprint.

Because they’re exposed to such harsh weather conditions, durability is incredibly important for a dedicated winter tire like the Winter Snowcontrol Serie 3. For added strength the tire’s internal structure consists of twin steel belts that are reinforced with spirally wrapped polyamide. This ensures the Winter Snowcontrol Serie 3 can stand up to the changing road and weather conditions.

Your safety is a priority for Pirelli

So they’ve added special Snow Wear Indicators to the Snowcontrol Serie 3’s tread design that notifies you when the remaining tread begins to lose traction resulting in a drop in snow performance. And they’ve also introduced tread wear bars to the bottom of the groove to indicate the tire is completely worn out at 2/32” of remaining tread depth.

Overall the Pirelli Snowcontrol Serie 3 is quiet and smooth in dry roads with good wet, snow and ice traction. And for the price, they’re amazing value. However, tread wear is only above average and unfortunately Pirelli offer no tread wear warranty.

Don’t let the winter weather conditions hold you back. With the Pirelli Snowcontrol Serie 3 on your vehicle you can travel wherever you want.

In order to get the highest possible level of traction and performance out of the Winter Snowcontrol Serie 3, Pirelli recommends using them only in sets of four.
