Are you looking for a tire that’s able to withstand harsh winter conditions without sacrificing performance?

Pirelli have succeeded in creating a high-performance winter tire that’s among the best in its class.

Pirelli Winter Sottozero Serie II provides security and comfort despite changes in weather and road conditions during winter. It combines excellent winter traction with the dry and wet performance of an all season tire.

Winter Performance

To increase traction on snow, ice and slush, the Winter Sottozero Serie II uses a rubber tread compound with a special feature. It features new polymers and Pirelli’s Temperature Dynamic Compound. All this is molded into an asymmetrical tread design.

The tire’s polyester cord body helps to create a smooth, comfortable ride and inside the Winter Sottozero Serie II you’ll find two steel belts with a polyamide reinforcement for added strength, durability and increased stability.

Pirelli WINTER SOTTOZERO SERIE II Tread

Cornering grip and steering response is nearly at the same level as a high performance summer tire. Which can be credited to the tire’s larger shoulder blocks and Interactive Brickwork Siping. The Brickwork Siping increased cornering stability and steering response and provides biting edges that dig into the snow and ice for superb grip and handling. It really grips the road whether you are driving on dry, wet or icy surfaces. These tires are quick to regain traction when they slip and inspire a lot of confidence. However, once taken into deeper snow, this tire can struggle a bit.

To increase wet performance and limit the risk of hydroplaning, circumferential grooves channel water and slush away from underneath the tire for better grip and handling. Wet traction is especially impressive under acceleration.

Dry Performance

Traction, braking and cornering is just as good as many all season tires. Overall, the ride comfort is excellent. However, a bit of road noise starts to creep up when driving on dry roads at higher speeds. But beside that they’re extremely smooth and comfortable to drive on.

Overall

If you want a tire that delivers excellent handling, grip and stability, this is the tire for you. It’s a solid, affordable choice that will allow you to get plenty of driving enjoyment in the winter months. A great tire for highly spirited driving in all weather conditions.

Starting price is about $120 per tire. It’s available in a array of sizes ranging from 16 to 20 inches and in speed ratings H,V or W.

It’s recommended that you install the Winter Sottozero Serie II in sets of four only. It meets the industry’s severe snow service requirements. This can be confirmed by the three-peak mountain snowflake symbol branded on the sidewalls.
